about sugaring hair removal
Frequently asked questions
Sugaring is a hair removal technique that uses a natural paste made from sugar, water, and lemon juice. In sugaring, the sugar paste is applied to the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth and then removed in the direction of hair growth. This can help minimize discomfort and reduce the likelihood of hair breakage.
Sugaring and waxing are both popular methods of hair removal, but they differ in terms of the ingredients used, application techniques, and potential benefits.
Sugaring paste is typically applied at body temperature or slightly warmed, reducing the risk of burns or discomfort from hot wax. It made from natural ingredients and can act as a natural exfoliant, gently removing dead skin cells along with the hair. This can leave the skin feeling smoother and may help reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs.
Avoid tanning and using retinoid creams 48 hours before your appointment.
Please come with clean dry skin.
Avoid using any powders, cream or lotions to the area being sugared the day of your treatment.
For hygienic reasons, we recommend our clients to bring new cotton underwear for any bikini services.
Avoid tight clothing for 24 hours.
Avoid any activity that could cause sweating, such as working out, and soaking or swimming in water for at least 24 hours.
Avoid direct sunlight, including tanning for at least 24 hours.
Do not shave between sugaring appointments, as it disrupts the hair growth cycle and affects results.
Avoid picking at ingrown hairs, as it may cause scarring or infection. Let a professional remove them hygienically during your appointment.
At AYA Sugaring we recommend to follow our specific instructions and incorporate general skincare practices. During your appointment your esthetician will go through detailed guidelines according your skin type and needs.
Here are some general tips that may complement their recommendations:
- Follow aftercare instructions
- Cleanse Gently: When caring for Brazilian and underarm areas, avoid using regular soap. Instead, opt for intimate hygiene products with a pH of 3.8-5.5. At our store, we recommend two products clinically tested by gynecologists, specifically formulated with the perfect pH level for these intimate areas. They are gentle and ideal for maintaining cleanliness and freshness after sugaring treatments.
For Body wash use shower gels without harsh sulfates, as SLS, SLES, ALS.
- Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate your skin as recommended by Aya Sugaring Expertise. We recommend you use Enzyme Powder as exfoliation, only once or twice a week. This helps prevent ingrown hairs by removing dead skin cells and allowing hair to grow freely.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink enough water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Proper hydration supports overall skin health.
- Avoid Tight Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, breathable clothing, especially in the treated areas. This helps minimize friction and irritation. Try to use only natural materials as cotton and linen.
- We do not recommend to moisturize areas like Brazilian and underarms. However, it is ok to moisturize the rest of the body.
